When will she be me?

We’ve been talking again about how babies are made. Every time I repeat the narrative of our bodies, I falter. I am no longer convinced of the improbably mechanics of it myself, that something so liquid, so fleeting could result in the comparative permanence and materiality of hard bone and tooth, in individual strands of hair, or the stuffed internal stockings and tracts, her looping intestines and gullet and so forth.
‘Are you going to have babies one day?’ I ask her, and not just for entertainment value. I always have this feeling that she knows her own path, that she can see into her own future. When she answers these questions I hang on to her every word.
She nods. ‘When I’m you.’
On some level, I believe everything she tells me - even that one day she might grow up and become me.
It reminds me of our heated discussion last night when she told me how she's going to marry Daddy one day (she will be the princess he will be the King - like Sapsorrow). I pointed out that I was already married to Daddy. When she got upset I quickly backpedalled. We came to a compromise, she can marry Daddy if I can go and live in the forest. I'm actually quite looking forward to it.

w is still koighty pissed we didn't invite her to our wedding. We have promised (both to her and us) that we will invite her to our next "wedding" to be held on our 10th anniversary.

she also wants loads of babies, as soon as possible, and she plans to "breastfeed-ed for ever.".

  3. NO no no no Asha doesn't want babies and dies of embarrassment if I try to bring it up. I believe that she won't either, I think she sees shrieking tense me and thinks 'I don't want to go there' ... smart chick.

  4. Mieke would totally have a baby now if she could just get one from 'somewhere'. She would take it to kinder and leave it on the snack trolley while she plays. She has asked several times if she can marry Matt, has compromised by marrying Quinn. (I told her she could marry Pops, to which she replied, "No because he married Joan and then they got old").

  5. Oh, and she's also said more than once that she and Frederique will get married one day because they love each other best. Hee hee.

  6. She will never be you. She will become herself so completely and so utterly that you will gaze at her and wonder how she could once have lived inside your body. She will fill you with wonder and relief and bewilderment. It's the best bit about having grown-up kids to discover how much they have "come through you but are not of you'. (I know, daggy old Kahil Gibrahn who never had kids - but he was right!)

  8. Also he was in the birthing room when Daylin was born so there's no confuxion to where babies come from for him. He's been absolutly rivioted with the TV show Fight for Life which we record for him, he thinks he maybe a doctor when he grows up!

  9. Fred wants 10 babies. 5 girls and 5 boys. (Because that's how many fingers she has, the girls are on the right hand and the boys are on the left).
