to funny things on Amazon of all places
and to someone intelligently saying all the things you couldn't quite articulate about the proposed changes to publishing laws in Australia, and not wanting to go back to the dark old days when Australian publishing consisted of sheds that stored books written overseas
And then saying it again just as well
to editors laughing at themselves
and I really don't know what to make of this - incredible, disturbing, beautiful, confronting and a little sickening: the colour of consumerism, the gendered colours of childhood.
The Scribe link was one of the better explanations I've seen of parallel importation going around - and I've seen lot lately! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, that exhibition - it confirms for me that some of the object collecting is more about the cultural habits of the parents than the children, though. (Using that lofty expression as a euphemism for shopping of course.)
