that man
is teaching
my daughter
how to breathe
one two
three
scattering light,
her arms
seem too thin
to matter, but
she’s progressing
he scoops her body
suddenly sideways
against his large body
touches his cheek
to her cheek
I catch my breath
the surface of the pool
dazzles
chlorine smells
like slow time
amniotic
Damn, I was going to do a poem about my daughter's swimming lesson. So funny.
