Head over to Inside A Dog, read my post about school socials and have fun watching the clips.

I used to pull faces at myself in the mirror and mouth along to "Vienna" by Ultravox in about 1981 (??) Sooo tragic... so mystic and soulful...

This means nothing to me -- Ah, Vienna (dt d'duh)...

  2. My adolescent line of music infatuation went from 11 - Duran Duran - 13 - Models - 15 - Cure - 17 - Pixies ... much angst and teen adoration and infatuation and daggy dancing associated with them ... and plenty of others!

Little Conversations by Concrete Blonde was a big moping song with me around that time :-)

Also Pictures of You by the cure..

And for my less cool high-school musical backdrop there was probably some Europe or Bon Jovi or Whitesnake playing somewhere... or Feargal Sharkey!

    Ahhh, good times.

  4. Oh yeah, I went through a Pictures of You phase. And I seem to remember writing poetry while listening to The Same Deep Water As You. At 17 (ish) I discovered Sinead and listened to her and Suzanne Vega almost exclusively for three years. Often one song at a time - Troy was on high rotation.

  5. Oh and PJ Harvey. She's in Melbourne in Feb, but I doubt I'll get to see her.

I loved the Same Deep Water As You.... so moody... and that rain... I listened to it even after I stopped listening to the rest of the album...

I'm sure I composed more than a couple of (bad) teenage poems to it!

I just bought a Suzanne Vega best of recently for ten bucks... it's awesome.

One Night in Bancok (from Chess)

Yr 11 was a disaster, you didn't miss anything. For some reason the served free Beer in the foyer before dinner, most were drunk before reaching the function room, food was awful the the drunk ones made a good call there!
But was full of the usual drunken boy/girl inter-relations..lol..
And it all seemed so important at the time.

PS I'll email a pic of you in THAT green dress... he he heee (just got to find it, I know I have them here somewhere!!)
